I can understand that Blizzard wanted to link reputation with VP/JP gear.It is a change.I consider it a good thing, because alts need the same attention as the main character. There no big thing, especially for JP gear.VP gear needs mainly Revered reputation, while JP needs mainly Honored.
I can understand that most people WILL eventually level up their alts. But why FORCE people to farm reputation also in order to have access to recipes? Also, why force people farm that reputation – in the process their hit lvl 90 – and keep the level required to learn maximum skill in a profession 10 levels lower? Any lvl 80 can skill up any profession to 600.But (except Inscription) they need to farm reputation to get valuable recipes.
What does this means to gold strategies ? Well, firstly, any gold maker will NEED most, if not all professions. The alts must be lvl 80 at least, which is not an issue, since many already had their crafting alts leveled to 75.There is absolutely no issue to make gold without the recipes, just stick to what you know. However, the big LW and Tailoring leg kits money makers cannot be done like before.Scribes have no problem at all, they can craft all blues and epic shoulder enchants without any rep farming or Harmony crap.
What Blizz wanted to do here is to somehow even the gold gains among poor people, making them to focus on their MAIN character, while knowing that most mains are having a crafting profession paired with the specific gathering one.The alchemists make Living Steel while the BS needs those to make belt buckles.Who the hell have a BS and an Alchemist on same character? Like nobody.Same thing with crafting gear.Even low level epics need the Living Steel.I say low level, because they are the first MoP epic “tier”.
Anyway, the ones who had a Scribe in WOTLK and dropped it because Cata changes the glyphs industry, they regret it now.Darkmoon cards and shoulder enchants are the big winners in MoP among all profesions.Shoulder enchants are the new gold mine while the CD on Scrolls needed o make DMF cards AND the changes in stats for the trinkets can potentially make 10-15k / day for every Scribe out there.
What to do if you are in same situation like I am ? I DESPISE farming in all forms, including reputation farming.I do it with my main, from obvious reasons (gear for raid, buckle crafting) but I won’t do it with all my crafting alts.Maybe I will do it at some point, because at some point, my main will have all the reputation needed. Will be trivial and unnecessary, since I am happy with the gold I make now.But what about others?
I personally expect a change regarding reputation needed for certain recipes (I do not expect it for VP/JP gear) in some form.Maybe they will just get rid of it.Maybe they will find a formula of giving a percentage of main’s rep to alts. They already giving 50% more VP to all characters / account. It is a sign.
They might go further and realize that while linking VP/JP gear to reputation is a good move, linking it to crafting profession was dumb.Dumb enough to require a big change.Or go the easy way Blizz, get rid of it for good.
